What Actually Works For Women Over 40 (Backed By Science)

👉 It doesn’t need to be complicated to work.
So what actually works?
The research is clear:
✔️ You don’t need long workouts
✔️ You don’t need to train every day
✔️ You don’t need extreme approaches
What works is:
👉 Consistency
👉 Simplicity
👉 Progression
Here’s what to focus on:
1. Keep workouts short
2 x 20–30 minute strength sessions a week is enough to make progress.
2. Stick to the basics
Squat • Lunge • Hinge • Push • Pull • Rotate
3. Focus on effort, not weight
Light weights, bands or bodyweight all work — if they feel challenging.
4. Include both strength and cardio
For your body, your energy, and your overall health.
5. Start where you are
It’s never too late. Truly.
Why this matters more after 40
From midlife onwards, we naturally lose muscle.
Strength training helps to:
