What I Know Now That I Wish I Knew Then
By Andrea Gaynor — AG Fitness & Health
When I shared my last blog, “I Thought I Was Losing Everything… I Was Actually Finding My Way,” I had no idea how many people it would resonate with.
The messages, comments, and conversations that followed reminded me of something powerful — we all have seasons where things feel uncertain, slower, or not quite how we imagined.
And while I wouldn’t rush back to that time, I can honestly say it taught me more than any “successful” period ever has.
So today, I want to share what I know now — the things I truly wish I’d understood earlier.
Because if you’re in a season of change, doubt, or transition, maybe this will help you breathe a little easier.
1. Your Worth Is Not Measured by How Busy You Are
For years, full classes, packed schedules, and constant momentum felt like proof I was doing well.
When things slowed, it felt uncomfortable… almost like I’d lost a part of my identity.
But here’s the truth I’ve learned:
being busy and being fulfilled are not the same thing.
Slowing down created space — space to think, to reassess, and to reconnect with why I started in the first place.
And that space changed everything.
2. Change Isn’t the End — It’s Information
At the time, I interpreted change as loss.
Now I see it as feedback.
It was my life gently nudging me to evolve — to adapt my work, my energy, and my direction to where I am now, not where I was 10 or 20 years ago.
Growth doesn’t always feel exciting.
Sometimes it feels like uncertainty.
But it’s still growth.
3. You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out
I used to believe that as a coach, I should always feel confident, clear, and certain.
The reality?
I’m human first.
There were moments I didn’t know what the next step looked like.
Moments where I questioned things.
And do you know what I’ve realised?
You don’t need a perfect plan — you just need the willingness to keep showing up.
Clarity often comes after action, not before.
4. Your Experience Becomes Your Strength
Everything I’ve navigated — personally and professionally — has deepened how I coach, how I listen, and how I understand the women I work with.
I’m not just teaching workouts or habits.
I’m supporting women through real life, real changes, real emotions.
And that perspective is something I wouldn’t trade.
Nothing you go through is wasted — it becomes part of how you help others
5. There Is Always Another Chapter
When you’ve done something for decades, it can feel scary when it shifts.
But I’ve learned this:
You’re not starting over — you’re starting from experience.
And often, the next chapter feels more aligned, more meaningful, and more “you” than anything before.
I genuinely feel more grounded and clearer in my purpose now than I have in a long time.
A Little Truth From Me
I also want to say this, because it’s important to be honest…
I absolutely don’t have it all figured out.
I still have moments of doubt, wobbles, and insecurities — that hasn’t magically disappeared.
But what has changed is the trust I have in myself.
I trust my experience.
I trust my resilience.
And I trust that I am exactly where I need to be right now.
I’ve learned that things have a way of unfolding, even when you can’t see the full picture yet.
And deep down, I hold onto this belief —
it will all work out… it always does.
If You’re in a Season of Change
Maybe things feel uncertain for you right now.
Maybe your confidence has wobbled.
Maybe you’re questioning what’s next.
Please know this —
You’re not behind.
You’re not failing.
You’re evolving.
And sometimes the path only makes sense when you look back and realise it was leading you somewhere better all along.
Final Thoughts
If I could go back, I’d tell myself to trust the process more.
To worry less about what things looked like on the outside.
And to believe that change was happening for me, not to me.
Because now I see it clearly —
I didn’t lose my way.
I grew into it.
And if you’re navigating your own shift right now, I hope you remember…
✨ Your next chapter might just be your most powerful yet.
