Women’s Fitness in St Ives and Huntingdon: Stronger, Healthier, Happier
Looking for friendly, supportive women's fitness classes in St Ives, Huntingdon or the surrounding Cambridgeshire villages?
Perhaps you've been thinking about getting back into exercise, trying strength training for the first time, or simply making a little more time for yourself.
Maybe life has been busy, your energy isn't quite what it used to be, or you're finding that the things that worked for you years ago don't seem to work in quite the same way anymore.
Sound familiar?
Well, you're certainly not alone.
I'm Andrea, founder of AG Fitness & Health, and I help women build strength, improve their fitness, gain confidence and feel better in themselves.
And one thing I firmly believe is this:
Your body has changed. Your approach should too.
Fitness Doesn't Have to Be Intimidating
For many women, the hardest part of starting a fitness journey isn't the exercise itself.
It's taking that first step.
Walking into a new class, wondering whether you'll keep up, worrying about being the least fit person in the room, or thinking everyone else will know exactly what they're doing.
I've heard it all before!
But here's the thing.
You don't need to be fit to start exercising.
You don't need fancy gym clothes.
And you certainly don't need to look a particular way.
You just need somewhere you feel comfortable enough to begin.
That's exactly the environment I aim to create at AG Fitness & Health.
Friendly, welcoming, encouraging and with plenty of laughter along the way.
Why Strength Training Is So Important for Women
If there's one thing I'd love more women to understand, it's just how important strength training is.
Particularly as we move through our 40s, 50s and beyond.
As we age, maintaining muscle mass and strength becomes increasingly important for our health, mobility and independence.
Strength training can help us:
- Maintain and build muscle strength.
- Support bone health.
- Improve balance and everyday movement.
- Feel stronger and more physically capable.
- Build confidence in what our bodies can do.
And no, lifting weights doesn't mean you have to become a bodybuilder!
It might mean feeling confident carrying your shopping, lifting things around the house, enjoying your hobbies or simply continuing to do the things you love.
The NHS recommends muscle-strengthening activities on at least two days a week as part of a healthy, active lifestyle.
You can read more about this in the "NHS physical activity guidelines" (https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/physical-activity-guidelines-for-adults-aged-19-to-64/).
For me, strength training isn't just about what happens in the gym.
It's about building a body that supports the life you want to live.

Thursday UNWIND
Not every workout needs to leave you dripping in sweat!
Thursday UNWIND combines Pilates, mobility, stretching and relaxation.
It's an opportunity to slow down, move your body gently and take some much-needed time for yourself.
Because looking after your health isn't always about pushing harder.
Sometimes it's about giving yourself permission to slow down.
Step Fitness
If you enjoy music, movement and a good laugh, Step Fitness offers an energetic and enjoyable way to work on your cardiovascular fitness.
With different options available, you can work at a level that feels right for you.
You can explore the available sessions on my "fitness classes page" (https://www.agfitnessandhealth.com/classes).
Prefer Something More Personal?
Group fitness isn't for everyone, and that's absolutely fine.
I also offer personalised fitness, nutrition and lifestyle coaching, particularly supporting women navigating the changes that can come with midlife.
We look at the bigger picture.
Not just exercise, but your energy, sleep, nutrition, habits, confidence and how to make looking after yourself fit into everyday life.
Because a programme only works if it works for YOU.

It's About More Than Exercise
One of my favourite things about running classes is watching the connections that develop between the women who attend.
The friendships.
The encouragement.
The laughter.
The moment someone realises they can lift something they never thought possible.
Or when someone tells me they're feeling stronger, sleeping better or simply feeling a little more like themselves again.
Those moments matter.
Because fitness isn't just about changing how your body looks.
It's about changing how you feel, what you believe you're capable of and how you approach looking after yourself.
And that is something worth investing in.
