Beyond The Scales Part 9
Trusting The Process
One of the hardest things I've had to learn over the last 18 months is to trust the process.
Not the quick fixes.
Not the promises.
Not the "lose a stone in four weeks" headlines.
The process.
The boring stuff.
The stuff nobody really talks about.
The daily walk.
The strength training.
The protein.
The hydration.
The early nights.
The consistency.
The showing up even when you don't feel like it.
Because if I'm honest, there have been plenty of times when I've wondered if any of it was working.
Plenty of times when I've looked in the mirror and not seen what I expected to see.
Plenty of times when I've questioned whether I should be doing something different.
Something faster.
Something more extreme.
Something that would give me results now.
But every time I've been tempted to jump ship, I've reminded myself of something important:
The habits are working, even when the results aren't immediately obvious.
Over the years, I've realised that many women give up just before things start to change.
Not because they're lazy.
Not because they lack willpower.
But because they don't see progress quickly enough.
We've become conditioned to expect instant results.
We want the weight loss.
The confidence.
The energy.
The stronger body.
The better sleep.
The improved mood.
And we want it yesterday.
The reality is that real change takes time.
Especially when you're navigating your 40s and 50s.
Especially when hormones are changing.
Especially when you've spent years dieting, restricting or putting everyone else's needs before your own.
For me, the last few weeks have been about going back to basics.
Daily walks.
Four strength sessions a week.
Protein at every meal.
Drinking more water.
Prioritising recovery.
Restarting HRT.
Nothing revolutionary.
Nothing glamorous.
Just the foundations.
And whilst I can't say every symptom has disappeared overnight, I can say this:
I feel stronger.
I feel more focused.
My motivation feels steadier.
My confidence is growing.
My relationship with my body is improving.
And perhaps most importantly, I'm starting to trust myself again.
Because every walk I complete.
Every workout I show up for.
Every healthy choice I make.
Becomes evidence.
Evidence that I can do this.
Evidence that I am capable.
Evidence that I don't need to start again every Monday.
Evidence that I can be the woman I want to become.
The truth is, transformation isn't built in the moments when everything feels easy.
It's built in the moments when you don't feel like it and do it anyway.
When motivation disappears and your habits take over.
When progress feels slow but you keep going.
When you choose patience over panic.
So if you're reading this and feeling frustrated because things aren't happening as quickly as you'd like, I want to remind you of something.
Keep going.
Keep showing up.
Keep laying the bricks.
Keep trusting the process.
Because the strongest transformations often happen quietly.
One walk.
One workout.
One meal.
One day at a time.
And before you know it, you'll look back and realise you've become someone stronger than you ever imagined.
Not because of a quick fix.
But because you kept going.
And that is something worth celebrating.
