The Bigger Picture: What I’ve Learned (And Lived)
If there’s one thing I’ve learned — not just as a coach, but as a woman in her 50s — it’s this:
It’s never one thing.
It’s the mix.
And every part matters.
For a long time, I believed progress came from pushing harder.
More workouts.
More discipline.
More “I’ll be better next week”.
And yes — effort matters.
But what I know now, through years of coaching women and navigating my own body through perimenopause and beyond, is that real change only happens when we stop chasing one solution and start respecting the whole picture.
This is what that picture really looks like.
💪 Fitness & Movement
Movement has always been part of my life — but my relationship with it has changed.
It’s no longer about smashing myself or earning food.
It’s about staying mobile, energised, and connected to my body.
Some days it’s strength training.
Some days it’s Pilates or mobility.
Some days it’s a walk and a stretch on the living room floor.
And I’ve learned this the hard way: it all counts.
🏋️♀️ Strength
Strength training has become non-negotiable for me — and for the women I coach.
Not to shrink ourselves.
Not to chase a number on the scales.
But to feel capable in our bodies.
To protect our bones.
To feel confident, powerful, and strong for life.
Strength has given me more than muscle — it’s given me belief in what my body can do.
🍽 Nutrition
Nutrition used to feel complicated. Restrictive. All-or-nothing.
Now? I see it as fuel and support.
Eating enough.
Prioritising protein.
Choosing foods that support energy, hormones, recovery and mood.
Not perfection. Not punishment.
Just nourishment — most of the time.
Food should support your life, not dominate it.
🧘♀️ Mindfulness & Pausing
This is the piece I used to ignore — and the one that changed everything.
Pausing. Slowing down. Breathing.
You cannot out-train stress.
You cannot override exhaustion with willpower.
Learning to rest, stretch, and calm my nervous system has been just as important as any workout I’ve done.
Sometimes progress looks like doing less — on purpose.
🧠 Mindset
Mindset is everything.
How you speak to yourself when life gets messy.
How you respond when motivation dips.
How you handle the weeks that don’t go to plan.
I’ve learned that progress isn’t linear — especially for women juggling hormones, work, family, stress and sleep.
A “wobbly” week isn’t failure.
It’s feedback.
🤸♀️ Mobility
Mobility is what allows me to keep doing what I love.
It keeps my body moving well.
It reduces aches and niggles.
It supports strength, posture, and longevity.
Mobility isn’t optional — it’s part of staying active for life.
🤍 Connection & Community
This might be the most powerful part of all.
Being supported.
Being understood.
Knowing you’re not the only one navigating this phase of life.
I’ve seen it time and time again — community is what keeps women showing up when motivation fades.
We do better together. Always.
🌿 The Truth
You don’t need to do everything perfectly.
You don’t need another quick fix.
But when you start to respect the whole picture —
movement, strength, nourishment, rest, mindset, mobility and connection —
everything shifts.
Not just how you look.
But how you feel.
How you move.
And how you live.
And that’s exactly how I coach — because this isn’t theory for me.
I’ve lived it.
✨ If this resonates, and you’re ready to stop trying to fix one thing and start supporting the whole of you, I’d love to help.
I offer 1:1 coaching, group programmes and online support for women over 40 — all built around the bigger picture.
🤍 Because it all matters
